Hi!

I'm Sam, and I'm the artist behind Banksia Fairy.

I grew up surrounded by nature on beautiful Dunghutti land on the mid north coast (NSW, Australia) and I now live and work on Bidjigal land, in South Western Sydney; where I share a home art studio with my partner and our four cats.

All of my collages are hand cut, arranged and glued by me using mostly vintage and found materials from vintage books and magazines that I collect.
Collage has been my main medium of choice since 2019 and the tactile nature of analog collage is essential to my practice as an artist.

I'm inspired by dreams, flowers and nature, magic and surrealism. As a queer artist my identity also heavily influences aspects of my work. I’m also a qualified florist so my obsession with flowers extends beyond the paper!
